The great thing about mountain wildflowers is the fact that they are wild.
I have been coming to the "gorge" for the past few years. The rich diversity of the plants... more specifically, the wildflowers are what makes the hike worth the journey. The entire spring season is filled with gorgeous colors.
The Flaming Azalea. What a beautiful flower! I discovered this gem on the Jonas Ridge Trail...on the eastern rim of the Linville Gorge.
